Measurement-Based Approaches for Achieving and Maintaining Remission in Adults With Major Depressive Disorder

Program Description & Educational Objectives

In this case-based activity, an expert in the management of major depressive disorder (MDD) discusses the practical applications of measurement-based care as well as strategies for the management of patients who are either nonresponsive or suboptimal responders to treatment. Additional highlights of this activity include a review of evidence-based treatment guidelines, considerations for therapeutic selection, and a discussion of available tools for assessing the impact of treatment-related side effects as well as treatment adherence in patients with MDD.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Apply recent guidelines for the management of patients with major depressive disorder
  • Develop strategies to implement measurement-based care for the treatment and monitoring of patients with major depressive disorder
  • Employ various pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic strategies to achieve remission in patients with major depressive disorder who do not optimally respond to initial therapy for treatment-refractory depression

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of psychiatrists, psychiatric physician assistants and advanced practice nurses, internal medicine and family practice physicians, and other clinicians involved in the management of adult patients with major depressive disorder.

Requirements for Successful Completion

In order to receive credit, participants must view the activity and complete the post-test and evaluation form. There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME/CNE credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
